The Body Keeps the Score

Wilhelm Reich, the father of somatic psychology, coined the term "Character Armor." He observed that psychological trauma is not just a memory in the brain; it is a rigid tension pattern in the body.

  • Fear tightens the psoas.
  • Anger locks the jaw.
  • Grief collapses the chest.

Over decades, this tension hardens the Fascia (the connective tissue web) into a suit of armor. We become trapped in our own bodies.

The Lubricant of the Web

Cannabis is a powerful Myofascial Release Agent.

The Endocannabinoid System (ECS) is densely populated in fibroblast cells (which build fascia). When THC/CBD binds to these receptors, it induces a systemic softening (mriduta).

1. Analgesia: It lowers the pain signal, allowing the yogi to sit in discomfort long enough for the tissue to release.

2. Proprioception: It amplifies the "felt sense" of the body. You stop thinking about the hip and start feeling the hip.

3. Vasodilation: It expands blood vessels, warming the tissue and making the collagen gel-like (thixotropic effect).

The Practice: Yin Ganja

The best application of this is Yin Yoga.

  • Dose: Low to Medium (Indica dominant).
  • Pose: Long holds (3–5 minutes). Pigeon, Butterfly, Saddle.
  • Sensation: When the "high" hits, visualize it as a warm liquid pouring into the tightest knot.
  • The Release: You may feel heat, vibration, or sudden emotion (tears/laughter). This is the trauma leaving the tissue. This is Somatic Excavation.
"The plant melts the ice. The yoga moves the water."
