1. IEC Mandate
The Cortex Independent Ethics Committee (IEC) is registered with the CDSCO to review and approve all biomedical research protocols conducted at the institute.

2. Committee Composition
To ensure impartiality, 70% of our IEC members are external to the institute:
- Chairperson: Justice (Retd) V.K. Sharma
- Member Secretary: Dr. A. Gupta (Pharmacologist)
- Basic Medical Scientist: Dr. R. Iyer
- Clinician: Dr. S. Khan (Psychiatrist)
- Legal Expert: Adv. P. Singh
- Lay Person: Mrs. M. Desai
3. Serious Adverse Event (SAE) Reporting
Any SAE is reported to the IEC and CDSCO within 24 hours of occurrence. The IEC conducts a root cause analysis to determine causality and compensation if applicable.
